About the event
The Historic Lindsey House, located on Northwest 67th Street in Liberty City, is an important landmark of Miami’s Black history. Built in 1947, the Mediterranean-style residence was home to Ellis “Peaches” Lindsey, a prominent Black businessman, and his wife, Anne, a respected socialite. The home was part of Millionaire’s Row, a stretch of grand residences built by successful Black entrepreneurs and community leaders during segregation, when discriminatory housing practices restricted where Black families could live. The Lindsey House also served as a cultural gathering place, welcoming celebrated entertainers and historical figures, including Josephine Baker, Nat King Cole and Joe Louis.
